The city of Bend, Oregon in September is a breathtaking sight that you’ll never forget. It’s one of our favorite times of the year (it’s light sweater weather here when September hits, and the leaves are just beginning to change color) and we’re excited that you’ll get to see it! Here are some great ideas for what to do while you’re here in Bend for Labor Day Weekend:
Take the Bend Scavenger Hunt Walking Tour to get out on your feet and explore the city! This tour is only $38 and is a wildly fun way to see the sights of the city in an active way. Check out the High Desert Museum and the Deschutes Historical Museum while you’re out and about, too. Take the afternoon to visit the lovely Todd Lake, where you can take a hike around the lake and enjoy the view of the mountains and the wildflowers.
Since you saw so much of the city yesterday, take today to spend more time in the outdoors of Bend during Labor Day. Head to Deschutes River Trail, a 10.5-mile trail where you can either take a leisurely walk along the beautiful waters, or go jogging, or even mountain biking. Visit Deschutes Brewery today between 12:00pm and 6:00pm when it’s open, and enjoy some complimentary beer samples, along with a guided tour. End the day by taking a drive up to Pilot Butte State Scenic Viewpoint to watch the sun go down from the best vantage point in the entire city. This is a view you’ll always remember, and it’s a great and relaxing way to end an eventful day.
You’ll find that you have the urge to do something both relaxing and exciting on your last day in town. What activity could possibly fit both those parameters? Try taking a Deschutes River Horse Ride with Wilderness Horse Adventures! This is a customizable day trip where you can do whatever your heart desires, including floating down the river and even fly fishing. After your horseback ride, head over to Naked Winery in Old Mill District before it closes to treat yourself to a wine tasting. Afterward, you can explore the many shopping, art, and dining opportunities of the Old Mill District area one last time
