Where to Rent a Bike
Bend offers a huge selection of bike rental shops. Many of them are close to your Bend Vacation Rentals cozy cabin! Stores like Webcyclery, located at 550 SW Industrial Way #150, feature everything from children’s bikes to fat bikes for rent, and they sell them as well. If you’re looking to take a nice bike home with you, they discount their rental bikes frequently, allowing you to get a top-notch two-wheeler at a price that easily fits in your budget. Electric bikes can be rented at Bend Electric Bikes, 223 NW Hill Street, for those who like to take it easy on their vacations but still want to get out and play. And finally, Wheel Fun Rentals, found in the Old Mill District at 603 SW Mill View Way, offers Surrey Bikes that can hold the entire family as they shield you from the hot sun rays in the summer!
Where to Ride
Fat Bike Trails
– When the snow is lingering in many places in Bend, these trails are best for fat bike riding. Horse Butte Loop is 9.9 miles long, making it best for riders with at intermediate skills and above; offering breath taking views of the valley, this is our personal favorite. Wanoga Short Loop is shorter, lasting just 3.5 miles, and is friendlier to beginning fat bike riders.
Family Trails
– Biking is an activity the entire family can enjoy, but if you have small children, you may want to stick with easy loops like the Todd Lake Loop. 1.25 miles long, Todd Lake Loop offers the chance for the kids to play with frogs or tadpoles. The Sparks Lake Loop, 1 mile long, allows you to witness breathtaking views without causing you to lose your breath from over-exertion.
Other Trails
– If bike riding is your passion and you are traveling with other like-minded people, the South Sister Summit Climb is a 11.8-mile trail best attempted in the months between August and October. Smith Rock Park offers a variety of trails for all skill levels, so if you are more experienced, but are traveling with others who aren’t, you can all head to the park and take off on trails that best suit your biking skill levels. The Metolius River Trail, Sisters Mirror Lake Loop, and Green Lakes are a few other trails worth mentioning. All range from easy to intermediate and all offer incredible Bend views.
