Crux Fermentation Project Bend, OR

While the name may seem a bit unusual, when you visit this craft beer brewery, located at 50 SW Division Street, you may find yourself returning many times during your Bend vacation. Open every day of the week from 11:30 AM till 9PM (except on Mondays when they open at 4PM), craft beer lovers will feel right at home! Offering a selection of over 20 craft beers on tap, this is where serious beer drinkers go to taste the real stuff; they don’t serve meals, but do offer snacks to go along with your drinks, such as chips and dip or bread and cheese.

Unique Location

This modern brewery is located inside what was once a transmission repair plant and still contains some hints as to its original purpose. Concrete floors stained red may hide automotive stains, but the glass front garage doors add an industrial element to the simple elegance of its décor. The eclectic furnishings in Crux Fermentation Project are all upcycled and eco-friendly; concrete countertops, reclaimed wood tabletops, and a firepit outside among the picnic tables all combine to create an atmosphere that is both inviting and friendly.

The star of the show, however, is the view of the room where the magic is made. The large stainless-steel brewing tanks are in a glass room behind the bar. There’s no need for a formal tour of Crux, all you need to do is look around. In addition to the tanks, you can see fermenting vessels, hop coolers, and lots and lots of barrels holding their next best drinks just by swiveling in your chair.

The Beers

And now we come to the crux of our conversation (see what we did there?), the beer. The beer menu at Crux Fermentation Project in Bend is ever changing and always popular. Over 20 stainless-steel taps feature tried and true favorites, as well as their experimental drinks that may soon become new tried and true favorites!

The Gimme Mo IPA, Cranberry Wit Belgian-Style Wit Bier, and PCT Porter are just a few popular choices, but they all will quench a thirst after a long day of vacation sightseeing in Bend! Happy Hour specials (called Sundowner Hours) begin at sundown and include $2 off their appetizers which are normally at a cost that is already easy on the budget. Some of the beers may be a little pricier than others, but you get what you pay for here; you won’t find a blue can of anything in their cooler!
