Bend at Christmas time is the closest thing to magic that any of us will ever experience. The only thing you can do is come and see it for yourself! Immerse yourself in the beauty of winter in one of the loveliest cities. Here are a few of the things we’re most excited about for Bend Christmas 2019:

Holiday Marketplace

Take a little trip to Sunriver on November 24th and 25th to get some Christmas shopping in. Here you’ll find locally handcrafted goods and art, from handmade soap to lovely metalwork to fine jewelry. This event is in its 16th annual run and it gets bigger every year! Find it at the Great Hall at Sunriver Resort.

Community Bend Christmas Tree Lighting

Come for the whole month of December and kick off your Christmas season with this community tree lighting ceremony (lit by Santa himself) on December 6th. This annual celebration really brings us all together, and it’s the perfect way to begin your Christmas in Bend. Join the choir and the crowd in the singing of all our favorite Christmas carols in downtown Bend.

A Tower Christmas: Swing Into the Holidays

This is a holiday tradition that we all look forward to each year. “Swing Into the Holidays” is this year’s theme, so you can only guess what kind of lively and fun holiday music this 18-piece band will feature! This family-friendly event takes place on December 20th – 23rd, so it makes a great leadup into the main event: a magical Christmas Eve and Christmas Day in Bend.

Christmas in Bend, Oregon

Mt. Bachelor is open on Bend Christmas Day, which means that this Christmas can be a time of adventure! Sleep in and make yourselves some nice hot coffee in your rental home, then head out and hit the slopes together for a white Christmas you’ll never forget. Go skiing, go snowboarding, do whatever your heart desires!

Spend the afternoon visiting Bend Whitewater Park for a winter scene that feels like an oil painting. Explore downtown Bend for a taste of Christmas magic courtesy of the twinkling lights and the lightly fallen snow. Even if no fresh snow falls in Bend on Christmas Day, you never have to drive far to find it! Try the nearby Wanoga Sno-Park—just remember to bring your sleds and your sense of fun.

Bend, Oregon is a gorgeous community with a surrounding landscape that will continually take your breath away, from the majestic mountains to the quiet cafes in town. Year-round, Bend opens its arms to visitors, and during the holidays the atmosphere turns downright magical. There are a thousand reasons to head to Bend for the holidays. Here are just a few:

Picturesque Scenery

If you were to take a moment to close your eyes and imagine a picturesque, postcard-worthy winter scene, with snow-dusted pines and a pastel sky, you’d probably be picturing Bend in the wintertime. You’ll want to bring along your warmest jackets, your snowshoes, and all your favorite winter sporting gear, because there is no better time or place to break them out than here in Bend for the holidays.

Wild Winter Adventures

The mountains around Bend average 30 feet of snowfall per year—much, much more than the mild 30-inch average that the city enjoys. That means that the world of winter magic awaits you on the mountain tops! Book a Moonlight & Starlight Snowshoe Tour with Wanderlust Tours, which also offers other adventures, like snow camping, and a New Year’s Eve bonfire. Take the family to see what it’s like to ride with sled dogs if you’re looking for a more creative way to enjoy the snow. But the biggest winter adventure of all is our favorite: winter sports. Try backcountry skiing on Cinder Cone, or cross-country skiing on Wanoga Sno-Park Cross-Country Loop.

The Magic of Bend for the Holidays

Some of our favorite perks of the holidays are those right here in town. Warm up after a long day snowshoeing to Tumalo Falls by heading into town for a craft beer at Silver Moon Brewing, plus a good, old-fashioned burger. Get into the holiday spirit with us at the annual Christmas Parade, to be held this year on Saturday, December 7th. See the Holiday Lights Winter Paddle Parade on December 13th; it’s a one-of-a-kind parade that you’ll never forget, where Bend’s paddling enthusiasts deck their canoes and kayaks with holiday lights and decorations and head down the Deschutes River together.

Home Away from Home

When you’re planning a holiday destination, the most important thing is finding somewhere that will feel like home to everyone during your stay. That’s where Bend Vacation Rentals can lend a helping hand. Simply call us today at 541-385-9492 and we’ll help you get started!
