Valentine’s Day in Bend Oregon

HomeBend for the HolidaysValentine’s Day in Bend Oregon

Valentine’s Day in Bend Oregon is a day for romance, a day set aside for being with that one special person in your life. The day can take many forms, depending on what the two of you love to do. All that matters is that you spend it with the one you love, and Bend is the perfect backdrop for Valentine’s Day!

Enjoy All the Outdoor Activities You Both Love

There’s still snow on the ground, so if the two of you love to ski, skate, snowboard or glide cross country through the snow-blanketed forest, you’re in luck. Head to Mt. Bachelor for a day of skiing, tubing, and more with your sweetie, or just take a trek through the woods. The short, scenic Sparks Lake Loop Trail wanders around one of the most photographed lakes in the state and is known for its amazing sunset views. Or just take a hike hand-in-hand along the Deschutes River Trail. Over twelve miles of trails wander through downtown Bend, along the river and through several city parks. Besides the gorgeous scenery, the best part of this trail is that if you get tired, the coffee shops, bars and restaurants of downtown Bend are just a few steps away.

Enjoy New Romantic Things to Do in Bend Oregon

Of course, gazing at the stars is pretty romantic. You can enjoy a little stargazing from the deck of your vacation rental, or head outside town to the Oregon Badlands Wilderness, away from those pesky city lights. Make arrangements on your own, or book a Moonlight/starlight Snowshoe Tour or a Bonfire Snowshoe Tour with Wanderlust Tours and tromp merrily through the snow enjoying the twinkling stars, and possibly a roaring bonfire at the end of the line.

Do your stargazing from the comfort of a horse-drawn sleigh. Wrap your arm around your baby, snuggle deep down in the blankets, lean back and gaze at the stars as the sleigh glides across meadows and under the snow-covered boughs of the trees. The air is crisp and cold, the night feels like an old movie in black and white, and there’s nothing but the beating of your hearts and the muffled steps of the horses through the snow.

Enjoy Chocolates and More

During the day, don’t forget to stop off at one of our local chocolate shops for a few special treats. Seahorse Chocolate and Moonstruck Chocolate are just two to try in Bend. We suggest you make it easy on yourself and just get a sampler pack (or several) from each.

If you’re both into craft beer, you’re going to love Bend, which has quickly become a craft beer destination. Take a guided craft beer and brewery tour, or just head out on your own to enjoy the Bend Ale Trail. Here are a few of our favorite romantic things to do in Bend Oregon and spots to get you started: The Ale Apothecary (a little hard to find, but worth the trip), Boss Rambler Beer Club (new to the scene, but they’re making amazing brews like Chata Chill), the Crux Fermentation Project (best beer garden ever!), Boneyard Beer (try their Diablo Rojo), and last, but not at all the least, the Deschutes Brewery Bend Public House, where they’ve been serving their Black Butte Porter and Jubelale to an appreciative public for over 30 years.

Not much of a craft beer aficionado? No problem, Bend has a burgeoning wine and spirit distillery scene too. The Old Mill District has a few wine bars with tasting rooms, and you can enjoy the taster tray at Va Piano Vineyards or Evoke Winery to get things started. The Stoller Wine Bar, Elixir Wine Group, and the Bledsoe Family Winery all have tasting rooms in the Box Factory. From there head back downtown to Domaine Serene Wine Lounge or your favorite romantic restaurant for dinner. Or head to one of the local distilleries, where you can enjoy the tour, then enjoy a tasting flight in their tasting rooms. Start with Oregon Spirit Distillers and their award winning whiskeys, Crater Lake Spirits, Backdrop Distilling, and Bendistillery (America’s Most Award Winning Small Batch Distillery).

You may want to end your day with a romantic dinner at Ariana Restaurant (try their tasting menu), the Blacksmith Restaurant (a great date night steakhouse), Zydeco Kitchen & Cocktails (popular and lively), or the Pine Tavern (casual and inviting). Dine in, or order take-out to enjoy in your lovely vacation rental.
