Easter usually means religious services overflowing with joyous music and white lilies, Easter brunches, Easter egg hunts, and kids stuffing themselves with chocolate candy. Things are a little different these days, and most of the annual Easter brunches, hunts, events, and festivals in the Bend area have been canceled. But Easter is about rebirth and new beginnings, so this may be the year to start a new Easter tradition or two while you spend Easter here in one of our Easter rentals in Bend, Oregon.

Non-Traditional Easter Services
Religious institutions will still be hosting their annual Easter services, albeit slightly modified, and continue to welcome visitors with open arms. Since most churches have started live-streaming their services, you can participate in services from the safety and comfort of your Easter rental in Bend. You can even live-stream the Pope’s Easter Sunday mass on YouTube. Free Wi-Fi and large flat screen TVs in your rental makes it even easier.
Why not take your memories of a traditional Easter service on the road? Take a refreshing hike along the Deschutes River Trail or another local trail, find a quiet spot just off the beaten path, look out at the beauty of the Oregon wilderness, and it’s easy to have your own service. Why not have your own sunrise Easter service? Stay in town and start the day off with an early hike up Pilot Butte where you can watch the sun rise over the mountain tops, or if you’re staying in one of our rentals nestled in the trees on the mountain slope, you can enjoy the sunrise from the privacy of your rental’s deck. It’s a wonderful way to start your Easter Sunday, and maybe start a new Easter tradition.
Easter Brunch
This Easter, local establishments may at least be offering Easter menus if not their full Easter Brunch. Be sure to call ahead to check menus and for reservations as seating may be limited. And if you didn’t make reservations in time, or want to have a quieter, more private meal, you can always order a full meal as take-out, or order locally sourced steaks lamb, duck, or pork chops to grill out on your deck. Both Oregon Steak and Primal Cuts Market offer prepared food items as well as your choice of fresh meats. Just make sure to get some delicious fresh sausage and bacon made in-house for breakfast! Do your shopping in person, or order everything online and pick it up. And while you’re online ordering, select some fresh bread from Big Ed’s Bread. Their toasted cinnamon raisin bread will be great for breakfast! Your rental comes with a fully equipped kitchen making it easy to cook a traditional brunch if you want, or to reheat your take-out. And if the weather’s nice, enjoy brunch even more when you dine outside on the deck with that amazing view of the mountains surrounding Bend as a backdrop to your meal.
Hunt for Easter Eggs
Your kids can still enjoy a good Easter egg hunt while you’re vacationing here in Bend. Many of Bend’s community parks sponsor afternoon egg hunts, and Wildhorse Harley Davidson hosts their annual egg hunt at Vince Genna Stadium. Just give us a call to verify that these events will be occurring this year, we’ll have all the up-to-date info. Avoid all the crowds and the hassle of getting the kids there on time and enjoy your own Easter egg hunt at your rental. Many of our vacation rentals feature big, grassy backyards that offer plenty of room to run around, and a multitude of hiding spots for colorful eggs. And if the weather isn’t cooperating, just move the fun inside. Our vacation rentals are spacious, with plenty of room for your kids to have fun as they hunt for eggs and chocolate bunnies. And don’t worry about bringing everything with you from home, you can pick up whatever you need with a trip downtown. One stop at the Sweet Tooth Candy Shoppe and you’ll find chocolate bunnies, eggs, and all your kids’ favorite candy. Don’t forget to stop at Seahorse Chocolate or Oregon Craft Chocolate to pick up a few truffles and craft chocolates for yourself.
Hunt for Native Easter Bunnies
Get some fresh air and exercise after that delicious but filling brunch and go for a family hike. While on the trail, look in the grassy meadows and in the sagebrush for rabbits. Oregon has a variety of rabbits (jackrabbits, cottontails, and snowshoe hares, just to name a few) that are easy to spot if you just look. The kids will love catching a glimpse of a real Easter Bunny.
