This is one of the most charming Bend cafés and bakery sits in the Old Iron Works Art District in a historic building, with a lovely courtyard for outdoor seating. Besides offering up amazing, locally roasted coffee, Sparrow Bakery specializes in French pastry-making technique, and bakes their own croissants, cookies, and their famous Ocean Roll, a tasty delight of a pastry with cardamom vanilla sugar rolled up into croissant dough. On the menu, you’ll also find their take on French-inspired favorites such as the Monte Cristo and the Croque Madame, as well as sandwiches, salads, and made from scratch soups.

The brainchild of two former cruise ship workers, The Lemon Tree aims to serve up fare that it is internationally inspired and fashioned from fine, locally sourced ingredients. Since opening a couple of years ago, it’s quickly become a popular local spot. The cocktails are unique and innovative, and are supplemented by a wine and beer list, as well as a selection of coffee. Each colorful dish is beautifully plated like a work of art, and the menu is eclectic, including frittatas, benedicts, salads, and sandwiches, each with its own global flair.
